Vinyl Underground, Breakbeat Massive and Big Room Productions are proud to present the return of Mr Fudge to the Vinyl Underground.
Fresh from backing up DJ Shadow in Seoul, Mr Fudge returns to the Vinyl Underground for this Birthday showcase to slam out his unique style of Funk, Hip Hop and Breaks.
This pioneer of the BreakBeat scene in Korea is sure to surprise and enthrawl the room with his chunky hard funky beats.
Accompanying MR Fudge in this birthday bash is Vinyl Underground resident and host MACKA.
MR FUDGE
When his beats hit the floor, the flow is always funky and chunky killer breakbeats any tempo every style. New addition to Pure Phunk Recordings, MR FUDGE (aka Yusuf Akhtar)Canadian born breakbeat dj and producer is intense, energetic, and versatile in each solid set that he delivers. Having held residencies in Central and Western Canada since 1997, he is now currently based in Seoul, Korea spinning for Supermodified Productions, as well as for his Breakbeat Massive Crew throughout the Pacific Rim. Yusuf has always been heavily influenced by a variety of breaks, from hip-hop / trip-hop, midtempo funk and big beat, to the more current sounds of nu skool breaks. Having supported the local underground electronic scene since 95 in the prairies, run by DJ Deko-ze and the P.P.M collective, it was not until 97 that he got his start at a community radio station called CFCR, in his hometown of Saskatoon Saskatchewan.
The big move to Asia was not only to challenge him to gain recognition in the Pacific Rim, but to also push his production work and to develop a sound that best encompasses his energy and intensity behind the decks. Hard Funk best describes his production work, and his live dj sets. Not only does Mr Fudge hammer out the best of breakbeats (Nu Skool, funk, two-step and electro)...he plays all tempo's of fat beats (hip hop, trip hop, house and d'n'b). He is a veteran dj who can lay down the fat killer breaks on any stage. Keep an eye out for this breakbeat technician! (Mr Fudge has headlined events with such heavyweight djs such as The Herbaliser, Kid Koala, Paul Van Dyk, Chus & Ceballos, Hybrid, MYNC Project, DJ Volume, Dave London, Chris Anderson, Chris and Julian Liberator, John the Dentist, Rowland the Bastard, Frankie Bones, Deepsky, Hatiras, DJ Scissorkicks, Nitro, Subtropic and Lafleche to name a few. MACKA
Born in Australia, raised in New Zealand, currently residing in South Korea, Djin is in this boys blood. The thirst started way back in the 90's with rave music dominating the speakers and has progressed through a plethora genres and styles. From Punk to Funk, Country to Crooners, Drum n Bass to Techno, years of experimenting has lead Macka on an diverse journey through music. Mixing began by cutting up tapes and layering tracks leading to the demise of my music collection. With the advent of C.D, this became a little more difficult and eventually the progression to turntables occurred. After landing a residency at the Vinyl Underground in Busan South Korea, Macka has developed a unique thick jackin style that ignites the crowd and makes the walls shake! Having played in New Zealand, Australia, London and all up and down South Korea alongside the likes of Johnny Fiasco, Phil K and some of Koreas' finest: DJ G, Baeta, Jon Lockley, Audio Tsunami, Brian Kelly, Short Fiction, Kaptain K, C Deuce, DLX and many others, mixing Funky House, Bangin Electro, Techno or down right naughty Tribal beats, fat chunky groovin basslines govern Macka's music tastes, so come down and check out the naughtiness behind the tables!!!!!
